Adviser Support
Andy Cox
- Bristol Office
Can you describe your current role and responsibilities? I support the advisers in client fact-finding, preparing data and documentation ahead of client meetings. I also support with the creation of suitability reports and financial plans, ensuring all client goals, risk factors, and life circumstances are clearly translated into our advice. Cashflow forecasting is some thing I am experienced in, and I support the advisers to map out different scenarios for clients, and this can be very interesting when exploring different possibilities based on different life choices.
What has been your journey so far? I started my career in education and spent over 15 years as a PE teacher, building strong relationships, supporting young people, and learning how to communicate clearly with people from all walks of life. Over time, I became increasingly interested in personal finance and the difference that good advice can make to individuals and families. This led me to retrain, became my own teacher and completed my qualifications, and have now transitioned into financial planning. I’m now bringing together my background in people focused work with a fresh career in financial advice.
What do you enjoy most about working in your field? For me it is about making something complex and daunting, into something straight forward and manageable, and then empowering people to make confident decisions. I really enjoy the variety as every client has a different story, different goals, and different challenges. Being able to listen, understand what really matters to them, and then shape advice that improves their life is incredibly rewarding. Plus, I love that the work is always evolving and there is always more to learn.
What’s a fun fact about you or an interesting hobby you enjoy? As an ex-PE teacher, I have tried to gain every coaching badge under the sun, I have qualifications in most main sports, along with Mountain Biking and Aquatics and am even a qualified Cycling Proficiency instructor. I spent 6 months travelling and teaching in South America and am now taking my own children on family adventures, but they wouldn’t try alligator burgers with me in Thailand!
