Mortgage Adviser

Jack Harries

Can you describe your current role and responsibilities?

I am an independent Mortgage, Equity Release and Protection Adviser, helping Clients in their purchases and remortgages of their main residences, buy to lets, and second/holiday homes.

What has been your journey so far?

I started my mortgage journey with Eagle Star on their Central Mortgage Desk in 1989. Working in both the lending and intermediary sectors for many years, I then joined Digby Associates as a self-employed adviser in 2015.

What do you enjoy most about working in your field?

Helping people achieve their goals is a key part of the job, and one that I most enjoy.

This job is all about detail. We lead complicated lives and understand that every Client’s circumstances are different. It is particularly rewarding when we meet someone who has been told by someone else that something can’t be done!

The mortgage market is forever changing and evolving, and being independent means that we can go to the Bank of Timbuctoo if we have to, although we tend to find the High Street banks and building societies meet most Clients’ needs!

Our job is not done until completion day, so we are 100% focussed to reaching our targets. We will stay close, lead and support our Clients from the first time that we speak, liaising with lenders, valuers, accountants and Solicitors, until we get you over the line.

What’s a fun fact about you or an interesting hobby you enjoy?

I live with my wife and four dogs in Gloucestershire. Horses and country pursuits have always played a significant part in our lives, and we enjoy exploring The Cotswolds on foot or on our bikes.

I am passionate about the hospitality sector, and my wife tells me that when I am not cooking food, I read about food, am buying food or thinking about food!
