Adviser Support
James McDermott
- Bristol Office
Can you describe your current role and responsibilities?
As Adviser Support I produce client progress check reports which provide an overview and analysis of a client’s portfolio performance, as well producing many other supporting documents such as defaqtos and outcome report letters. I am further responsible for booking in adviser meetings and leasing with providers and clients over the phone. Outside of work, I am also currently studying for the RO exams to achieve my Diploma in Financial Planning.
What has been your journey so far?
Having had my A-Levels cut short due to the pandemic, I took a gap year working for the NHS as an MTU testing operative, where I travelled all around the South-West testing the public for COVID-19. 3 years later, I graduated from the University of the West of England with a First Class (BA) degree in Accounting and Finance. During university I excelled in modules such as Financial Planning and Investment Management which helped shape my desire to become a financial adviser and join Digby Associates in 2024.
What do you enjoy most about working in your field?
My favourite part of working in this field is helping clients. I see how the advisers I support build relationships with their clients and help them achieve their financial goals which makes the job very rewarding. I also enjoy being a part of young energetic team, where every day at work is different, and new skills are constantly being learnt.
What’s a fun fact about you or an interesting hobby you enjoy?
In my free time I enjoy playing a wide range of sports such as football, cricket, golf, and darts. I am also an avid Arsenal fan, whilst also having other keen interests such as astronomy and history.
