Financial Adviser
Tom Bohr
- Bristol Office
Can you describe your current role and responsibilities?
A Financial Planner is responsible for identifying, planning for and helping to achieve a client’s goals and objectives. This usually includes hoping for the best but planning for the worst. I’m a Pension Transfer Specialist which enables me to offer advice on defined benefit pensions. As well as working with clients I also take pride in helping with progression and development within the company.
What has been your journey so far?
I graduated from the University of Sheffield with a degree in Economics. I was lucky enough to be offered a job by Digby in 2013 following what must have been a highly impressive week of work experience when I was 16. I joined the admin team and progressed through to Paraplanner after completing my Level 4 Diploma in Financial planning. I started advising clients in 2017 and continue to work towards the Advanced Diploma (Chartered Financial Planner).
What do you enjoy most about working in your field?
I enjoy meeting new people and listening to their stories of how they got to where they are today. Helping clients achieve their goals, whether it be retiring early or securing financial independence, is by far the most rewarding aspect of the job. Cashflow Forecasting and number crunching also appeals to my inner nerd.
What’s a fun fact about you or an interesting hobby you enjoy?
I enjoy watching (my playing days are few and far between) rugby and travelling. If I can combine the two, jackpot. Myself and 3 other friends go on an annual holiday with two of us knowing the location and two of us not. Well, at least until we get to the airport gate! We started in 2012 and have been all over Europe, with highlights being Luxembourg and Ljubljana.
